Cheap Eats in Loreto, Mexico

If you find yourself in Baja California Sur, check out the coastal town of Loreto. Loreto is famous for its fishing, kayaking, whale watching, and dolphins! The town is also home to some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine.

Here are a few great places to eat in town:

Cafe Ole - (Madero entre Salvatierra y Hidalgo,
Loreto, BCS 23889; Phone: 613-135-0496) This street side cafe offers one of the best breakfasts. From fresh Orange Juice, bacon, and eggs, to refried beans and tortilla chips, it satisfies every craving. I was a fan of the fish tacos and beef tostadas.

El Rey Del Taco- (Juarez y Zapata, Loreto, BCS) Ever tasted a cow's head taco? It's a little different than your average fish taco - but it's really good! If that a little too much, the restaurant offers more typical carne asada, fish, and beef tacos, or anything else you want. Portions are big - and tasty!

El Canipole - (Pino Suarez and Magdalena de Kino,
Loreto, BCS 23889; Phone: 526131350282) The moment you walk into this restaurant you're greeted with beautiful relics and antiques. Try the homemade Mexican hot chocolate, the Pozole (a hominy stew), tortilla soup, or delicious conejo (rabbit).

Loreto Islas - (A. Lopez Mateos ESQ. Salvatierra
Loreto, Baja California Sur. Mexico C.P. 23880) You'll find great soups (seafood, tortilla, or my favorite- black bean soup)! If you go fishing or clam diving, you can bring your catch and they'll serve it up for you!
