If two of your favorite topics are politics and international relations, and you'd like to practice your, well, English skills during your study abroad experience, consider this program at Australian National University. The campus, home to 10,000 students just a short trek from the center of the capital city of Canberra, offers a diverse array of other courses as well, from fine arts to engineering to religion to Southeast Asian studies. Outside of the classroom, students have the option of joining the university's numerous social and sports clubs and attending Arcadia University-organized events and excursions.

  • Program participants are expected to enroll in four courses at the Australian National University, for a total of 16 credits.

  • Application Process: The deadline for applying for the fall semester or academic year is March 15; the deadline for the spring semester is November 15. Prospective participants may apply online, or can download the application form online and send it via regular mail. A form completed by the Study Abroad Advisor at the applicants' home universities, as well as one academic letter of recommendation, are required; both forms can be downloaded online. Applicants must also submit an official transcript from their home universities, as well was eight full-face passport photos (some programs require more).

    Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing to be considered for admission to this program. Students wishing to enroll in a visual art course may need to submit a portfolio prior to acceptance to the course.

  • Tuition and fees for a semester: approximately $17,990
    Tuition and fees for an academic year: approximately $31,120

    The tuition portion of the total fee includes tuition for a full arts and most social science academic course load, pre-program advisory services, orientation, complete support services from on-site staff during the program, an International Student Identity Card (ISIC), health and accident insurance, post-program follow-up, and transcripts. The housing portion of the total fee covers shared accommodations. Students may have the option to participate in a homestay for an additional fee. Arcadia University awards millions of dollars in scholarships annually; typically granting scholarships of $500-$2,000 per student based on need.
