Does studying at one of Australia's oldest (and most prestigious) universities, smack dab in the middle of the culinary and wine capital of the country, sounds appealing? Then a semester or year at the University of Adelaide, located on the southern coast, may be right for you. Participants may live in on-campus dorms--known as "residential colleges"--or nearby student apartments, take courses in a wide array of subjects with Australian students, join student clubs and activities, and participate in Arcadia University-organized social and cultural events, as well as at least one extended overnight excursion.

  • The University of Adelaide, located in the heart of the city, is one of the oldest universities in Australia. As a study abroad participant you'll have the chance to enroll in a variety of courses ranging from Asian studies to biological sciences to music to culinary and wine studies. Participants are required to enroll in three to four classes alongside regular students at the University of Adelaide, for a total of 14 to 16 credits per semester.

  • Application Process: The deadline for applying for the fall semester or academic year is March 15; the deadline for the spring semester is November 15. Prospective participants may apply online, or can download the application form online and send it via regular mail. A form completed by the Study Abroad Advisor at the applicants' home universities, as well as one academic letter of recommendation, are required; both forms can be downloaded online. Applicants must also submit an official transcript from their home universities, as well was eight full-face passport photos (some programs require more).

    Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing to be considered for admission to this program.

  • Tuition and fees for the fall or spring semester: $19,120
    Tuition and fees for the academic year: $32,700

    The tuition portion of the total fee includes tuition for a full course load, pre-program advisory services, orientation, complete support services from on-site staff during the program, an International Student Identity Card (ISIC), health and accident insurance, post-program follow-up, and transcripts. The housing portion of the total fee covers shared accommodations. Students may have the option to participate in a homestay for an additional fee. Arcadia University awards millions of dollars in scholarships annually; typically granting scholarships of $500-$2,000 per student based on need.
