This program is offered only in the fall semester, which runs from mid-August to mid-December.

The Technische Universität Dresden (http://tu-dresden.de) was recently cited by the German government for excellence in Bioengineering and Biomedicine. It is the only university in Germany to receive Excellence Initiative honors in both fields, and is also known for its full array of humanities, social science, and pure science departments.

All participants are required to enroll in CAS LG: Intensive Beginning German, 4 cr. (Students who have studied German previously can enroll in a four-credit
language course at the intermediate or advanced level.)

Students choose three electives from the following options:
* CAS CH 203 Organic Chemistry I, 4 cr.
* CAS BI 203 Cell Biology, 4 cr.
* CAS MA 213 Basic Statistics and Probability, 4 cr.
* CAS IP 400 Sociology of Culture, 4 cr.

In addition, program participants have the option of taking CAS NS 291 Introduction to Scientific Research (pending approval), 2 cr.

Upon successful completion of the program, students earn 16 to 18 Boston University credits.

The application deadline is March 15. It is possible to apply after the program deadline. BU will accept applications until the program is full. Please call BU's office for more information.

All Boston University students are required to complete an the primary application form online. Other students are encouraged to apply online as well, but are also permitted to download and mail the application form.

Applicants must submit:
* General Background Information form and an Information Release form
* Students need to contact their academic or department chairperson at their home institution to get approval and an appropriate signature.
* One academic recommendation
* An official transcript from each institution of higher learning attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to Boston University International Programs. (Boston University students may submit an unofficial transcript issued by the Office of the University Registrar.)
* An essay describing their academic, career, and personal goals.
* A nonrefundable $50 Application Fee. Applications for additional semesters will not require an application fee payment. Attach your check (made payable to Boston University) to the General Background Information form.

If you're applying for an internship (where available), you'll also need to submit an essay describing the internship assignment you would like, and you're encouraged to submit a résumé as well.

Applicants must attend an accredited U.S. university and have a minimum 3.0 GPA (in major and overall). No prior knowledge of language is required. Students must have completed the prerequisite requirements for the courses CAS CH 203 and CAS BI 203.

Approximate Tuition and Fees: $24,000 per semester

This cost includes tuition, housing, board, partial books, excursions, round-trip group airfare from a designated US city, and emergency travel assistance coverage. Financial aid is available.
