The Scene
Positioned in the heart of Sydney, between the Central Business District and the student hubs of Glebe, Newtown, and Surry Hills, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) reflects the city around it; it is modern, multicultural and friendly. The “offbeat” artistic inner-city neighborhoods that surround the City Campus help to define its character. Sydney’s main train and bus station, Central Railway Station, is located only minutes away, giving UTS students all of Sydney at their doorstep.

Modern architecture and unique buildings help to paint a picture of the City Campus. UTS classroom buildings interspersed with office buildings, restaurants and shops add a vibrancy to the local environment. With other local universities just a short walk up the road, the surrounding area is crawling with students and the atmosphere is energetic, dynamic and lively.

University Facts

  • Study Australia has a rolling admissions process, which means you can apply before any of the stated deadlines. If you choose to submit an application using our Virtual Application Manager (VAM), you should be notified whether you have been accepted within one to two business days. If you submit an application via mail, you should be notified within one to two weeks.

Early application submission is advised to secure your place in the program and to increase your chances of obtaining your #1 university choice.

To apply to a Study Australia program, please follow the steps below. Our preference is that applications be submitted via our VAM.

    • Step 1: Complete Study Australia Application. Submit your application using our Virtual Application Manager or, if necessary, the downloaded application form. Please review our catalog or Programs to determine your preferred location and university. Your selection can be modified, but please nominate at least one university on your application.
    • Step 2: Submit $30 Application Fee.
Submit your application fee by credit card on-line through your VAM or you may submit a check or certified bank draft made payable to Study Australia.
    • Step 3: Provide Official Academic Transcripts.
In addition to a transcript for our records, we will need an official transcript for each school to which you apply. If you have attended more than one university or college, you will need to provide transcripts from those previous institutions. Please request these copies be sent to Study Australia’s U.S. office at:
    Study Australia, LLC
    P.O. Box 1004
    Notre Dame, IN 46556-1004
    • Step 4: Submit Statement of Purpose.
This 300-500 word brief essay explaining why you would like to study abroad and why you have chosen Study Australia can be submitted online via the VAM.
    • Step 5: Submit Academic Recommendation Form (if applicable)
A recommendation is required from an academic professor/faculty member if your current grade point average is below a 3.0/4.0 scale. Some host institutions require 1 – 2 academic recommendations regardless of your GPA. Study Australia will notify you if this is required. Freshmen and Community College students should complete two reference forms regardless of their current grade point average.
    • Step 6: Upload a recent photograph with your application.
If applying through the VAM, this photo can be electronically attached to your record.

Students should have sophomore standing at a four-year degree-granting institution at the time of enrollment at the University of Technology Sydney. The University of Technology Sydney also requires that applicants have a minimum GPA of 3.0, although students with a 2.8-3.0 are encouraged to apply and may be admitted on a case-by-case basis. First-year students may also be admitted on a case-by-case basis.
