The Universidad Nacional de Cuyo offers one of the most widely recognized fine and applied arts programs in South America. Students are encouraged to take the majority of their classes at UNCuyo.

The Universidad de Congreso is the newest addition to the Mendoza program. Congreso has a strong research center for the social sciences, where students can find access to not-for-credit internships.

Students can earn up to 16 semester credits each semester. The program at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo offers two courses designed specifically for IFSA-Butler students. All students must take Advanced Spanish; Regional Development is optional. All courses are taught in Spanish.

Most students take three or four classes at UNCuyo, depending on course weight, to complete their course load. Most courses are worth 3 to 6 U.S. semester credit hours. A full list of courses will be available during orientation abroad.

Most students take their courses through the Faculties of Philosophy, Arts and Sciences, Economics, Political Science, and Education.

Courses are taught in Spanish by Argentine professors.

The application deadline for students hoping to start in February (semester 1 and the calendar year) is October 15. The deadline for students hoping to start in July (semester 2 and academic year) is April 1. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

In addition to the application(which can be completed online at IFSA-Butler's Web site, or downloaded and printed out) students must submit the following materials: a program approval form signed by the official in charge of study abroad at your home university; a professor recommendation form; official transcript(s); eight 2"x2" color photographs; and a $40 application fee, paid online via credit card (required for our online application) or with a check made out to the Institute for Study Abroad.

Applicants must be of junior or senior standing at an accredited university or college (at the time the program is slated to begin), have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, and have completed the equivalent of four semesters of university-level Spanish.

Semester I (February-July): approximately $12,975.
Semester II (July-December): approximately $11,775.
Calendar year (February-December): approximately $24,275.
Full academic year (July-July): approximately $19,975.

The total fee includes tuition, housing, most meals, full academic advising and course selection/approval assistance, a Butler University transcript for easy credit transfer, academic records maintenance, pre-departure services, an extensive on-site orientation and on-site services, excursions and activities, and full medical insurance as well as 24-7 access to health care providers.

IFSA-Butler awards numerous scholarships based solely on financial need, generally in the amount of $1,500 for semester programs and $2,500 for academic year programs. Any applicant may apply. Applications for all scholarships can be found online. The scholarship application deadline is March 1 for the fall or academic year programs, and November 1 for the spring or calendar year programs.
